Artist Statement

For several years I experimented with different art mediums. However, when I tried pastels I found what worked for me. I love the chromatic brilliance, versatility, and permanence of pastel.

My greatest motivation for subject matter comes from nature. Living in Redding is the perfect place for what I do. I go with my husband when he fishes, and hike with friends through our beautiful outdoors in order to take “lots” of photos. I paint mainly from my photos as taking my pastels on hikes is difficult. The important thing is that I love what I’m doing--life couldn’t be better.
