Artist Statement
“The enjoyment, challenge and fascination I get from wood-working is derived from the characteristics and beauty of the wood itself. Wood, with its infinite variations of grain, texture and color gives me the potential to create pieces of interest, beauty and grace.”
Loyd’s wood-turnings are in seven galleries, including Seattle’s North West Fine Woodwork, Gallery M in Half Moon Bay, and Mendocino’s Highlight Gallery. Loyd has participated and won numerous awards in the past five years. He feels the work and creativity are the motive and pleasure of his wood pieces but juried competitions add an extra discipline and challenge to his art.
