Edward Beier                                                         "Can an image help us to understand part of the chaos around us?

Edward Beier is a traditional photographer who works with black and white film and darkroom processing. Long a resident of the Redding area, Edward has been instrumental in establishing local juried photography shows and individual exhibits for the north state. Edward feels that traditional photography gives him the opportunity to best portray the images and thoughts that come from his work. He feels strongly that a photograph is not definitive, but only a segment of the world observed at that moment around him. It is that moment and that image which may provoke a totally new, exciting, or different thought or idea. If he can finish and present the photograph properly, Edward  hopes to share that moment with others and in turn, provoke them to further thought.

Michael Eichwald                                                           “There is nothing quite so fine as art, except perhaps for holiness.”

Michael Eichwald was exposed to the professional black & white photography of an uncle while living as a young student in Europe. Another family member was active in the academic study of "Art and Visual Perception." From this exposure in young adulthood came a continuing interest in visual aesthetics. After retiring from a successful practice in dermatology, Michael was able to return to his fascination with "what makes one image art and another simple craft".  Initially inspired by  the ancient Japanese art of Suiseki, Michael continues to be strongly influenced by the Japanese appreciation of the subdued, the weathered, the essence of the thing , and of what is humbly transient on our earth. With the advent of digital photography and its unprecedented potential, Michael has found a new art form, with the digital camera or scanner as the sketch pad, and computerized editing with Adobe Photoshop as the palate.

Barbara Luzzadder                                                                                     "Art transcends the medium in which it is created."

Barbara Luzzadder's experiences as an artist have greatly influenced her as a photographer.  Her love of photography evolved from illustrating a Master's Project with 240 slides. She has participated in many community, group, and individual exhibits as well as area competitions and has spoken to groups and organizations about the elements of art in photography. For Barbara, the union of her traditional art work with photography has opened up new avenues of expression. For her, the two are inseparable: they enhance each other. Successful photography is about the same artistic elements as those used in other art forms. Whether it is in her painting or with the camera, Barbara is influenced by the inimitable art of the old masters, and in particular by their mastery of  the interplay of light and shadow.
